Why we're building TruPay
Card payments have always carried a cost, and Australia's payment landscape is changing quickly — from card surcharge reform to the growth of real-time, account-to-account payment infrastructure like PayTo. We think there's an opportunity to give businesses a genuinely lower-cost way to get paid, built on that newer infrastructure rather than the card networks.
What we're building
TruPay is designing a merchant and platform payment layer that handles PayTo and Pay by Bank payments on a business's behalf — a hosted checkout, payment API, payment links and a dashboard for reconciliation, without businesses needing to integrate with bank rails directly.
Where we are today
TruPay is pre-launch. Product functionality, availability and final pricing are still being finalised. We're building in the open and working with an early group of businesses and platforms ahead of a wider rollout.
How we write about payments
Our guides aim to explain merchant fees, card surcharges, PayTo and Pay by Bank in plain English, without overstating what any payment method can do. Read our editorial policy for more on how we approach that content.
